Google is replacing the Content API for Shopping with the new Merchant API, which introduces:
- A new API structure
- Updated attribute formats
- Improved management of product data and services
To ensure continued compatibility with Google Shopping, Lengow is migrating its integration to this new API.
Google plans to fully transition by August 2026. To ensure a smooth transition and avoid any disruption, Lengow will migrate your feeds and settings in advance.
Only API-based feeds are affected. URL feeds and other integrations (LIA, etc.) are not impacted.
Timeline
Migration rollout: April to June 2026
Completion: end of June 2026, ahead of Google’s deadline.
What is changing
This migration is mostly technical and is handled automatically by Lengow.
Your existing configuration, attributes, and data structure will be migrated to match the new Merchant API requirements.
What you need to do before the migration
No major action is required at the moment. However, we recommend reviewing your configuration before the migration. Two attributes may require your attention:
Size attribute
In the legacy connector, the attribute "sizes__list__" could contain multiple values.
In the new Merchant API, "product_attributes.size" supports only one value.
- If multiple values exist, only the first one will be kept during migration.
Please review this attribute to ensure the correct value is used.
Link attribute
Previously, the "link" attribute was optional, although required by Google.
In the new Merchant API, "product_attributes.link" becomes mandatory.
- If already filled, no action needed.
If empty, you must provide a valid product URL.
The migration (coming soon)
1. Automatic draft creation
A new draft feed will be created for each of your existing Google API feeds.
These new feeds will be named "[NEW] Google Merchant via API" and will appear in your account with a "Draft" status (see the image below).
Rest assured, your existing legacy feeds will continue to process as usual. Your current settings, promotions, and update frequencies will not be affected during this phase.
2. Review and verify mappings
Before activating anything, review your newly created draft feeds. Note that the description and the attribute names will be available only in English.
Please take a moment to look through the settings and verify that all of your product data is correctly mapped within the new feed structure.
3. Authentication: Connect to Google Merchant Center
Once your mappings are verified, you must connect the new feeds to your Google Merchant Center (GMC) account.Â
This authentication allows Lengow to send your product data directly to Google.
Please refer to our dedicated authentication guide here!
4. Launch your new feeds
After your GMC account is connected and your mappings are double-checked, your products are ready to go. You can now launch and activate your new feed(s)!
5. Deactivate your legacy feeds
Once your new feeds are successfully launched and running smoothly, you can safely deactivate your old legacy feeds in Lengow. This ensures your setup stays clean and prevents duplicate data from being sent to Google.
