📣 Amazon - News - 18th August 2025 - EPR Batteries Regulation

As part of the EU Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations for batteries, your registration numbers are required by Amazon by August 18, 2025.

Listings without valid registration numbers may be deactivated by August 18, or sooner.

What you have to do in Amazon

If you are selling batteries and/or products containing batteries in Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Poland or the Netherlands, you must provide valid registration numbers for each country.
For Belgium, EPR Pay on Behalf service is available (read below).

In Amazon Seller Central, submit the registration numbers through Account Health, as detailed in Amazon's original message below.

Original message

Dear Seller,

I'm writing to keep you informed about an upcoming requirement: your battery product listings require EU Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) registration numbers by August 18, 2025 to continue selling in Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Poland and the Netherlands. Listings without valid registration numbers may be deactivated by August 18, or sooner.

For Belgium, EPR Pay on Behalf service is available (fees apply), you can follow the steps below to prove compliance on your own.

Why is this happening?
We are required to verify seller compliance with the EU Batteries Regulation's EPR requirements. If you sell batteries or products containing batteries in EU markets, you must provide valid registration numbers for each country where you sell these products (unless we are able to comply on your behalf). This applies to both: standalone batteries and products containing batteries.

How can you avoid the listing block?

Step 1: Determine your status
To determine if you are a producer or non-producer, see detailed definitions and scenarios on the EPR requirements: EU batteries help page.

If you are considered a producer in Italy, Belgium and Spain:

  1. Register with the local authority or a Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO)
  2. Submit your batteries registration numbers via Account Health, go to manage your Compliance and then Submit Compliance Information. Your submitted battery registration number will be validated within five business days and you’ll see the status on the Compliance Portal.

If you are not considered a producer and do not plan to use Amazon Pay on Behalf (where available)

  1. Obtain registration numbers from your upstream suppliers.
  2. Submit these numbers through Account Health and follow Step 2 above for the respective country.
  3. Check the box to confirm you’re not the producer and contact Selling Partner Support to provide a mandatory signed declaration with your supplier details and additional registration numbers (if you have multiple suppliers).

What happens if you don’t take the actions above?
We will be legally required to deactivate your non-compliant offers in Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Poland and the Netherlands if you haven’t submitted valid registration numbers by August 18, 2025.
