Complete the following steps to configure carrier mapping:
1. Access the Carrier Configuration Section
- Log in to your Lengow account.
- Navigate to the "Settings" tab.
- Click on "Edit carriers" under the "Shipping Carrier Configuration" section.
2. Select a Marketplace for Carrier Mapping
- In the carriers configuration page, you will see a list of available countries and marketplaces.
- Use the search bar to find the marketplace where you need to map carriers.
- Click on the desired marketplace to expand the carrier mapping section.
3. Map Shopify Carriers to Marketplace Carriers
- Under the selected marketplace, you will see a list of its carriers (e.g., CDC, DHL).
- Click on the drop-down list next to a marketplace carrier to choose the corresponding Shopify carrier.
- Select the correct Shopify carrier from the available list. If the carrier is not listed, select "Other".
- Repeat the process for each marketplace carrier you need to map.
When a carrier is selected in the Shopify carrier list, a green message will appear on the bottom left of the screen stating that the "carrier mapping is saved successfully".
Additionally, the "link" icon on the right turns green, indicating the number of carriers mapped.
4. Use a Custom Carrier Name with "Other"
When you select "Other" as the carrier option, you can optionally provide a custom carrier name. This custom value will be sent to the marketplace as the "carrier_name" instead of the generic "Other" label.
How it works:
- In the carrier mapping dropdown, select "Other"; see the screenshot below (1)
- A text input field will appear directly below the dropdown.
- Enter the exact carrier name you want to send to the marketplace (e.g., "ICP", "GLS Relay", "Mondial Relay"). We used "carrier-test" for the example below in the screenshot (2)
- Click outside the field (or press Tab) to save — a green confirmation message will appear.
Good to know
- Fallback behavior: If you leave the custom carrier name empty, the original Shopify carrier name (the "tracking_company" from the fulfillment) will be sent as a fallback. This ensures that even with "Other" selected, the marketplace receives a meaningful carrier value.
- Editing: You can edit the custom carrier name at any time. Simply update the text and click outside the field to save. Only the label is updated; the mapping itself remains unchanged.
- Granular mapping: Custom carrier names are specific to each marketplace carrier mapping. You can set different custom names for different marketplace carriers, even if they all map to "Other".
💡 Example: A marketplace uses the carrier code "CDC", but your order was shipped using a local carrier named "ICP" (which is not available in Shopify's standard carrier list). You map the marketplace's "CDC" code to Shopify's "Other" option and enter "ICP" in the custom carrier name field. When the order is shipped, Lengow transmits "ICP" as the carrier name alongside the marketplace carrier code, ensuring the marketplace receives the exact carrier label instead of a generic "Other".
Once completed, orders processed through Shopify will correctly translate carrier codes when sent to the marketplace.
