With Shopify Markets, you can:
-
Select specific markets: In the Shopify catalogue settings tab, you can use a multi-select field to choose your target markets.
Note: This field only returns markets currently set to Active in Shopify. - Access localized data: Import translations for product content and metafields to match your target audience.
- Manage regional pricing: Access market-specific pricing and currencies (e.g., Mexican Peso for Mexico).
- Strategic Distribution: Automatically send products to the appropriate channels based on their specific market rules.
Prerequisites in Shopify
Before using Shopify Markets in Lengow, ensure your markets are correctly configured in Shopify:
- Only markets with an "Active status" in Shopify will be available in Lengow.
- Define specific currencies (e.g., Mexican Peso with Dynamic FX) and localized catalogues for each region.
(See image2 below) - Translations: Ensure your product content (titles, descriptions, metafields) is translated for the relevant locales.
To use Shopify Markets in Lengow, you must first update the Lengow app permissions in your Shopify admin.
This step is required to grant Lengow access to your localized market data, including regional pricing and currency settings.
Once updated, you can select one or several markets to export.
Enabling Shopify Markets in Lengow
Once permissions are updated, you can enable specific markets within your catalogue settings.
Market Selection: Use the multi-select field in the Shopify catalogue settings tab to choose your target markets. Note: This field only displays Shopify active markets.
Flexible setup options
Depending on your business needs, you can choose between two primary configurations:
- Single catalogue management: Manage multiple markets within a single Lengow catalogue for simplified oversight.
- Dedicated market catalogues: Create separate catalogues for each market to handle more advanced or complex use cases.
How to set this up? Go to the Catalogue page > click Add a new catalogue > select your Shopify store. Then, enable the "Export market data" option and select the specific market dedicated to that catalogue.
Important to keep in mind
Regardless of your configuration, your primary Shopify market will always be reimported by default into each catalogue.
Lengow fully supports metafields translations. If your metafields are translated within a specific Shopify market, those translations will be correctly imported, provided the metafields are selected in your catalogue settings.
Please note that selecting a large volume of market data for export may increase your catalogue's processing time.
How to identify new localized fields
When Shopify Markets is enabled and permissions are updated, Lengow generates specific naming conventions for localized attributes.
- Translated Content (Locales)
For product content such as titles, descriptions, and metafields, the field name is constructed as:
[Field Name]_[Market Name]_[Locale].
Example: If you are translating a product title for the French market using the "fr" locale, the field in your Lengow catalogue will appear as: TITLE_FRANCE_FR.
- Contextual Pricing and Currencies
For regional pricing, the field name reflects both the specific market and the currency used. The construction is: [Price Value]_[Market Name]_[Currency].
Example: For a product priced for the Mexican market using the MXN (Mexican Peso) currency, the field will appear as: PRICE_MEXICO_MXN.
Verifying data in the catalogue preview
You can verify these fields are correctly synchronized by checking your catalogue preview in Lengow:
- Translation verification: Look for the market and locale suffixes (e.g., _FRANCE_FR) to confirm that your translated titles and descriptions are available for mapping to international channels.
- Price verification: Look for the market-specific currency suffix (e.g., _MXN) to ensure the regional price is being pulled correctly.
- Promotion tracking: You can also identify and map time-sensitive attributes such as "DiscountComponentStartDate" and "DiscountComponentEndDate" for each specific market.
This naming convention allows you to easily map the correct localized data to the corresponding international marketplaces and advertising channels.
