You might sometimes notice that after modifying a rule, the preview counter doesn’t seem exact. That’s completely normal—here’s a simple explanation:
When you create or edit a rule (optimization, segment, or exclusion) in Lengow, you’ll see a preview showing how many products are affected. This number is designed to give you a quick idea, not an exact total.
It’s based on a sample, not the full catalog
To keep things fast and smooth, Lengow doesn’t check every single product in real time. Instead, it looks at a small, random sample of products and estimates the result from there.
What does this mean?
- The number you see is an estimate, not an exact count.
- The products shown in the preview can change if you refresh the page (because the sample is random).
- Sometimes, especially with large catalogs or very specific rules, the preview might show 0 products—even if the rule will actually match products once applied.
Why not show the exact number?
Checking the full catalog every time would take too long and could slow down the interface. Using a sample keeps everything quick and easy to use, while still giving you a helpful indication of how your rule will behave.
In short: the preview is there to guide you, not to give a precise final number.
