Amazon - Error 8684: SKU is associated with more than one GCID

Amazon Error Message

SKU [item_sku] is associated to more than one GCID, which is not allowed. Send a delete feed for this SKU and all the other SKUs with the same attribute values as merchant_suggested_asin, and then resubmit the SKUs.

What does this error mean?

This error (Code 8684) occurs when your SKU is linked to multiple product identifiers (such as an EAN, GTIN, or ASIN) at the same time. Because a single SKU can only be tied to one unique product, this creates a conflict within Amazon's catalog.

How to fix it

Follow these steps in order to clear the conflict and sync your product:

  1. Check for duplicate EANs:

Review your product feed to make sure the EAN for this SKU is not being duplicated or accidentally used for other products. Fix or remove any duplicates.

  2. Force the correct ASIN match:

If your EANs are correct, you need to tell Amazon exactly which product to target. Submit the correct ASIN by mapping it to the "merchant_suggested_asin.value" attribute in your feed.

  3. Perform a 24-hour reset (if the error persists):

If the product still won't pass, you need to clear Amazon's memory of the item:

    • Delete the product from Amazon by sending the value "delete" in the "operation-type" attribute.

    • Wait at least 24 hours to ensure Amazon's database fully updates.

    • Resubmit the product by changing the "operation-type" attribute value to "update", making sure to also include the correct ASIN.

⚠️ Still having trouble?

If the error remains after trying the 24-hour reset, the conflict is deeply rooted in Amazon's internal catalog. In this case, you will need to open a ticket with Amazon Seller Support and ask them to investigate and clear the GCID conflict for your specific SKU.
