Kaufland has recently updated its category structure to include Conditional Attributes for Pet Food categories. These are product data fields that become mandatory only under certain conditions, depending on the other attribute values of your item.
To support this change, we have updated our connector. Lengow now exposes these conditional attributes directly within your Kaufland category mapping for pet food products.
Understanding "Optional" vs. "Conditionally Required"
When you map your categories for Kaufland, you will notice that these new conditional attributes are marked as optional in Lengow.

An attribute marked as "optional" in Lengow may still be required by Kaufland to successfully publish your product.
Why are they marked as optional?
Kaufland determines when these fields are mandatory based on their own internal business logic. However, Kaufland does not provide these trigger rules through their API. Because Lengow cannot predict exactly when Kaufland will require the field for a specific product, we leave the field optional to prevent blocking your catalogue unnecessarily.  Kaufland defines 3 conditional attributes that repeat identically across 8 pet-food subcategories (all located under Garten & Heimwerken → Tierbedarf). That's 24 new attributes in total (8 categories × 3 attributes).

- Proactively map relevant fields: Review the conditional attributes available in your Kaufland category structure. If a field is relevant to your product, populate it, even if Lengow marks it as optional.
- Monitor Kaufland validation errors: Since we cannot validate these conditional rules upstream, it is crucial that you regularly check your integration error reports. If Kaufland rejects an item due to a missing conditionally required value, it will be flagged in your validation errors.
- Correct and resubmit: Update the missing attribute in Lengow based on the error report and let the next feed product push correct the data to Kaufland.
