💡 How to translate my catalogue?

According to your strategy, you may need to translate some fields from your catalogue.

There is a simple way using Google and Lengow.

To do so, you will need:

Access to Google Drive
Your products catalogue data as a spreadsheet file (excel, google sheets...)
Access to "Catalogues" tab in your Lengow account

Step 1: Prepare translation in Google Sheets

From your products catalogue, copy the column which includes your product ids and columns you want to be translated (In our example, image 1, we selected name and description fields to be translated)
In Google Drive, open a new Google Sheets file
Paste content from your products catalogue into the blank Google Sheets file (Image 2)

Step 2: Translate your data

1. Use the =GOOGLETRANSLATE function to translate your data.
  In our example (see image), we added this function =GOOGLETRANSLATE(B2;"en";"fr") in D2 cell in order to translate from English to French the value from B2 cell.
2. Then unroll the formula over the entire column and replicate it in column E to translate column C.

Step 3: Check and adjust translations

Select column(s) with translations, copy and paste it/them at the same place using the "Paste only values" option (Ctrl+Maj+V).
This way, you are erasing the functions, while keeping translated texts.
Review translations and correct them if needed.

Step 4: Prepare your file for Lengow

Label new fields (Image 1)
Delete column(s) which are no longer usefull.
In our example, they are columns B and C with original content.
Once you only have the products id field and new columns in your file (Image 2), export the file under a csv format (File > Upload > Values seperated by coma (.csv, active sheet))
The exported file is now on your computer.

Step 5: Import translation in Lengow

In your Lengow account, go to "Catalogues" tab, select the catalogue in which you want to add translated fields.

Then go to Additional sources tab from this catalogue and add the file you just exported from Google Sheets, following additional sources addition steps.
