Follow these instructions to publish products with variations:
1. Common attributes
-
"Product Model ID": Enter the parent ID (the ID which is common to all variations from the same product).
This field has to be filled in. If your product doesn't have any variations, fill this field in with the product ID. - "Product Config ID": Also indicate here the parent ID for variations. For simple products, enter the product ID.
- "Supplier color": Enter the color as provided by the manufacturer or supplier. Ex: Terracotta. Please note that the value will not be translated.
-
"Color code (Primary)": To map your products colors with Zalando's grid, used in filters on the website. Optional: "Color code (Secondary)" and "Color code (Tertiary)".
2. Specific attributes per products category
Mapping has to be completed for color, size and material attributes. If your catalogue includes these values, you can use the conversion list through a rule for the concerned attribute.
Note #1: All products must be correctly configured. If a variation is set up incorrectly (e.g. a size which doesn't contain a value expected by Zalando), then all the variations of the product will be unpublished.
Note #2: For products with variations, titles shouldn't contain any notion of variation.
3. Sizes
Fill in the following attribute:
-
"Size codes - Size": Complete with size and size type as provided by your Zalando team partner.
As the size grids vary depending on age and gender, create rules with conversion lists to select the correct values.
Consecutive sizes
To publish a variation of products, Zalando requires the article to have stock available for several consecutive sizes for certain categories:
- Every textile article (except for underwear) must be available in at least 3 consecutive sizes.
ex: M L XL - Adult shoes must be available in at least 5 consecutive sizes.
- Kids shoes must be available in at least 3 consecutive sizes.

Tip: If you are blocked because of this requirement, enter a quantity of "1" for all sizes while the product is being created. Then, update with your real stock.
