Google Shopping, API or URL?

What's the use?

Google Shopping is the platform on which traffic registered on your ads will be redirected to your website.

API and URL, what's the difference?

Historically, your data was available for Google via Lengow through URL. From April 10th, 2019, data could be send using Google API.

This new method offers to users the possibility to update inventory data every hour (price and stock) and to make available Google integration reports in your Lengow account.

Starting from April 2019, only the Google API - Services feed is available for creation in Lengow. Nonetheless, it's possible that you've previously created a URL feed and would like to set it up or optimise it.

Which guide should you read? Which version of the feed do you have in Lengow? This guide will answer these questions.

How to know your feed's version?

When creating the channel, its title includes the "API" mention when data are sent by the Google API - Services feed. This term is not present for feeds making your data available via URL.

Nevertheless, you may have changed this channel's title in your Lengow account, so that, you are not able to know which method is used to send your data to Google Shopping.

Here are the differences:

You are using a Google Shopping URL feed when...

... in Lengow: ... in your Google Merchant Center
  • first step of set up is "Categories" (at the bottom of the page),
  • in the "Settings" step, first tab is "Costs".
